AMES, Iowa – Iowa State senior running back Aaron Wimberly has been named to the preseason watch list for the 2014 Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse.

Beginning in 2010, the award is given annually to the most versatile, high-level performer in major college football. The award is named after Paul Hornung, who is a member of both the College Football and Pro Football Hall of Fames.

Wimberly enters his senior season as one of ISU’s most dynamic offensive players, leading the team in rushing (567) and yards per carry (4.0) in 2013 despite missing two games due to injuries. Wimberly also caught 18 passes for 211 yards.

A native of Snellville, Ga., Wimberly was named to a number of preseason All-Big 12 lists by national magazines. He had a pair of 100-yard rushing games in 2013, including a career-best 137 yards at Tulsa en route to Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors.
