Obamacare website being re-tooled for next open enrollment period

WASHINGTON – Even after the Obama Administration declared victory when millions had reportedly signed up for health care coverage under the Affordable Care Act, the notorious HealthCare.gov website still doesn’t work right and is being re-built by a new team of experts.

“The ObamaCare website still isn’t working,” House Speaker John Boehner lamented Monday morning.

Many people had so much trouble last year using the HealthCare.gov website as they tried to get health insurance coverage that they gave up on the process. A re-build of the site may alleviate some of those issues.

According to wired.com, a new team of computer “geeks” are already working on what is called “Marketplace 2.0”, building “core features of the next generation of HealthCare.gov that will debut when the next enrollment period begins November 15. Key upgrades include a simpler interface for a majority of users, a more robust plan comparison tool, and a new login system rebuilt from the ground up.”

HealthCare.gov is closed for the most part now, only looking to pick up a few stragglers who might qualify for coverage, since the open enrollment period for 2014 is now closed. The next open enrollment period begins next fall, November 15, 2014 – February 15, 2015 for coverage that would start as early as January 1, 2015.
