MASON CITY – Police were called to a Mason City apartment house after a report that a man had assaulted a woman.
Officers were dispatched to 627 8th Street SE on Monday evening at about 11:07 PM to investigate an assault. It was reported that an ambulance was needed as a female victim was bleeding from the head. Police placed Gary Edward Showman, age 47, under arrest and charged him with serious assault.
Showman was taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail, booked and later released after he posted bond.
