Tyler Trout to face trial Monday for charges related to underage drinking party

MASON CITY – Tyler Trout – the son 18-year-old son of Mason City’s City Administrator – will face trial on Monday, April 14 on charges brought against him for allegedly hosting an underage drinking party.

The party was held at 10 Granite Court in Mason City, owned by Brent Trout.

Tyler Trout was charged on February 22 with a municipal infraction for social host and issued a criminal citation for unlawful consumption of alcohol. Police were dispatched for a disturbance at 10 Granite Court after a possible underage party was reported at that address. Three juveniles were arrested at the location and a total of five adults were also cited.

Tyler Trout has pleaded not guilty to social host violation and underage drinking.  On April 9, attorney Mark Young – who works for the City of Mason City – filed a motion to dismiss the charge of unlawful consuming of alcohol.  Records show that the trial on that charge is still scheduled.

Dealing with an underage drinking ticket is one thing, but hosting an underage drinking party can be a lot more trouble.

Exactly and why the police chose the lessor charge because of who he was.

This is getting more press than the Barlas murder last summer. Wow.

Go easy on Matt.

This is a small-town gossip rag.

Matt got an eye opener on journalistic equanimity and sponsor/nepotism last summer when the Barlas case broke. Tuff position to be in. Harder to deal with when it hits home. It proves that only the greatest dispassionate monks can apply fairness evenly in this world. Most are subject to some form of bias and favoritism. Law enforcement and judges must wrestle with this, as friends or family members place them in the position of properly doing their job, or sweeping it under the rug.

Isn’t it a conflict of interest to have Mark Young as the attorney of record??? He works for the City of Mason City?????

Yes, I believe he does.

I thought he originally had planned to get out of law and go grace some school district as an administrator.

Either way, a lose-lose for the public.

This is one fish that should be sent up the river!!

Troubled teen, Tyler Trout to be taken to trial.

is this really news?

No, of course it’s not news in any significant sense.

It’s gossip.

There is a young girl name Autumm Schaer in jail right now for a social host violation. Is the Trout kid getting special consideration because of his father? Are there two sets of laws for people? One for the social elite and one for the rest of us?

According to mugshots she’s actually in there for Failure to appear.

Failure to Appear – COURT/PENDING – CG No. 51 CCSMSM033676
SOCIAL HOST / UNLAWFUL CONSUMPTION (CG)

I agree there is two sets of laws. One for the Rich and one for the poor. People need to take a stand.

Special treatment clause, wait until you enter the real world!

We will be looking to see what happens here. If he is found guilty he will probably get a deferred sentence and a suspended fine. At the worst he will probably be fined $100.00.

LVS- I agree, we need to keep a close eye on this one. Just hope they do not drop all charges because of who his dad is. I heard this is not the first time he has been cited for underage drinking. Heard he got a break the first time he was charged but did not learn his lesson and got caught again.
