Ames police announce arrests following VEISHEA riots

AMES – Police in Ames have released names of persons arrested so far in connection with the riots that took place in Campustown on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 during the VEISHEA celebration.

Police said that as part of an ongoing investigation into the disturbance, which began Tuesday night and spilled over into Wednesday morning, investigators from the Ames Police Department have arrested the following individuals:

Arrested on warrants by Ames Police:
Andrew Adams, age 20 of Ames, Trespass, a simple misdemeanor
Mark Ribbeck, age 20 of Ames, Harassment of a Public Official, a simple misdemeanor
David Irving, age 20 of Ames, Theft 5th degree, a simple misdemeanor, Disorderly Conduct, a simple misdemeanor, and Criminal Mischief 2nd degree, a class “D” Felony

Arrested on Ames warrant by ISU Police:
Alexander Abbinante, age 19 of Ames, Trespass, a simple misdemeanor

Additionally, Clayton Steimel, age 20 of Ames, was cited and released on two citations, Criminal Mischief 5th degree and Disorderly Conduct, both simple misdemeanors.

Ames police have been assisted in the investigation by the Iowa State University Police Department and the many tips provided to us by the public.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
