One car accident kills one, injures 5 in Northeast Iowa

logo-iowa-state-patrolDELAWARE COUNTY – Five young adults were injured and one killed in a one-car accident early Saturday near Earlville, Iowa.

According to a report, a 2006 Ford F250 pickup truck driven by 23-year-old Dean William Dempster III of Delhi, Iowa was westbound on County Road D22 at about 2:09 AM Saturday with 5 other persons inside when Dempster lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line and entered the south ditch. The vehicle rolled onto the passenger side where it came to rest.

Dempster and four other persons were injured and taken to area hospitals. Those injured were: Ryan Michael Fischer, age 22 of Manchester; Holly Jo Hoeger, age 22 of Earlville; Amber Lynn Fischer, age 24 of Manchester; Dyman Thomas Flattery, age 22 of Manchester.

Brittany Marie Honkomp, age 23 of Dyersville, was killed in the accident.

Three of the vehicle occupants had no seatbelt in use.  The accident remains under investigation.
