Violent Mason City felon in jail for allegedly violating protective order on assault victim

MASON CITY – A Mason City man previously convicted of two violent felonies is behind bars at this time for allegedly violating a no-contact order connected to his latest assault charge.

According to police, on June 29th, 2013, at 12:01 AM, a citizen reported seeing a man who was later identified at Raymond Leroy Hayes, 41, assaulting a female outside of 410 North Washington.

Officers responded and located several people in or on the property, including Hayes, but not the possible victim. Hayes was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

Later that same day, at approximately 1:25 pm, the female victim reported the earlier assault to police. Police completed their investigation and applied for a arrest warrant for Hayes, which a judge signed.  Police began looking for Hayes (who had recently pled guilty to the disorderly conduct and been released from jail).

Police located Hayes at 333 West State and arrested him on the warrant on June 29th at approximately 11:56 pm. The arrest warrant for Hayes was for 1 count of Aggravated Domestic Assault.

Hayes then plead guilty to second offense domestic assault on July 10th and given 9 days in jail and a $127.05 in court costs.  A no-contact order was set by a judge for one full year.

Hayes was charged with Violation of No Contact Order (criminal) after an August 26th incident and a warrant for his arrest was issued.  He was picked up on August 30th at his home.

Hayes is being held on $1,000.00 cash-only bond at this time.

Hayes was convicted of felony D assault causing bodily injury in 2001 and felony D assault causing injury in 2007.

Wow, a whole $1,000 bond 🙁

Wow-look at the date.

Hopefully these kind of people either kill themselves of someone kills them while their committing the crime

Waste of time to put them back behind bars with our legal system in mason city. you can beat your wife, girl friend, beat on cops, spit in the cops face and all you get is a slap on the wrist and a little piece of paper that says probation and a free pass to go out and do the same crime again and again. WASTE OF F**KING TIME
