MASON CITY – Three men – who had a baby in a stroller – ran from a police officer Monday evening.
According to police, at about 7:16 PM Monday evening, a Mason City police officer observed three subjects pushing an infant in a baby stroller in the 000 block of South Carolina Avenue. The officer suspected one of the males to be Matt Ward who is currently wanted on a an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court. The other two subjects were Brandon Ward, 29, and Tyler Meuer, 23.
As the officer turned around to approach the trio, the three men ran down the Carolina hill into some apartments at 540 East State Street, still pushing the infant in the stroller. The officer chased the subjects on foot and located Brandon Ward and Tyler Meuer hiding inside one of the apartments with the infant. The thrd male, believed to be Matt Ward, got away.
“The infant was fine,” police indicated Tuesday.
Ward and Meuer were arrested for public intoxication and interference with official acts. The infant was released to the mother who was in the apartments.
Court records show Matthew Ray Ward plead guilty to felony second degree burglary on April 22nd in Floyd County Court and is set to be sentenced on July 15th.
