MASON CITY – The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office released more details on an alleged drunk driving incident that injured five last April.
According to the sheriff’s office, on April 27, 2013 at approximately 7:41 PM, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to a single vehicle roll-over accident at 3707 Partridge Ave. in Cerro Gordo County.
Robin Jenks, 39 of Sheffield was driving a 1994 Honda Accord south bound on Partridge Ave. when she lost control of the vehicle. Margaret Brown 29, Kyla Williams 8, Jaylan Brown 5, and Tristan Jenks 14 months all of Sheffield, IA were all passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident. All occupants sustained injuries as a result of the accident and were transported to Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Jaylan Brown was later air lifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Jenks turned herself in on July 1st and is now in the Cerro Gordo County Jail, held on $20,000 Cash/10% Cash Bond. She is charged with the following crimes:
-Homicide or Serious Injury By Vehicle a Class “D” Felony
-Child Endangerment a Class “C” Felony
-Child Endangerment a Class “D” Felony
-Child Endangerment a Class “D” Felony
-OWI 3rd or Subsequent Offense a Class “D” Felony
-Failure to Have A Valid License a Simple Misdemeanor
-Failure to Maintain Control a Simple Misdemeanor
-Open Container: Driver a Simple Misdemeanor
In addition, on July 5th, 2013 at approximately 1800hrs, Margaret Brown turned herself in and was charged with the following:
-Child Endangerment a Class “C” Felony
-Child Endangerment a Class “D” Felony
-Permitting an Unauthorized Person to Drive a Simple Misdemeanor
Brown is currently being held at the Cerro Gordo County Jail on a $10,000 Cash/10% Cash Bond.
The charges were brought after an investigation by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office. The following agencies assisted:
Mason City Fire Department, Rockwell-Swaledale EMT, Sheffield EMT, Sheffield Police Department, and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
