MASON CITY – Mason City police responded Tuesday to an allegedly intoxicated man making threats at the Mercy Hospital campus.
At about 6 PM, police responded to a call saying that a man was threatening to shot his gun if he wasn’t left alone. According to police, Bruce Allen Simpson, 55, was transported to the ER in an ambulance. “He apparently got upset and left the ER,” police said. “He was reported to be lying on the ground at 1st Street SW and South Taylor, making threats involving a gun.”
Simpson was questioned by police and arrested for aggravated public intoxication, an aggravated misdemeanor.
Simpson plead guilty to harassment last year. In 2013, Simpson was convicted of his 3rd or subsequent public intoxication charge. He owes Iowa courts $272.80 in that case. Simpson also has at least two operating while intoxicated charges in which he owes thousands of dollars to Iowa courts.
