The “assignment to be determined” means that they have several openings that this teacher can fill, they just haven’t decided where to put them at the time of this announcement. They are probably looking at student numbers and needs at each building.
I hope none of these new hirease are coaches. MY old teacher commented about adds that read “Coach wanted, subject to be determined”.
I would not be surprised. They cut the TAG program way down to pay for coaches this year.
none of these new hires are coaches
I was hoping to see Anita Micich’s name on the list of people LEAVING!
are these teachers and the others that have assignments to be determined, hired for athletic reasons? and we’ll find them something to do later?
Megan Gross for an assignment to be determined,
Rebecca Seaton for regular education, assignment to be determined
when I was in school one teacher complained about this. Schools hiring a football or basketball coach, and finding them something to do later. He said that was a common problem with schools. worried more about hiring a coach than a good teacher.
Hillari whats up with that? I must of missed the train. Tasteless

Hillary, U R a disgrace to the Henkel name. 🙁
Well Hillari, you aren’t going to get any fans that way. Here’s the thing, I really want to give you my stamp (@maybe can insert it later if he chooses), but I’ll take the high road on this one. Anyone who has the mentality towards this young man that this picuture represents shouldn’t be working with children, ANY children regardless of how much they are compensated. You have to enjoy what you do and enjoy helping those less fortunate, especially the young ones. So, I’m not sure if you are a teacher or not…by God I hope you aren’t with your mentality, and I really don’t see your point. Being a teacher is a choice and taking the job you take for the offered compensation is another choice. You don’t think 54k is enough money to work with downs syndrome children? Well, I don’t think you should be anywhere around downs syndrome children AND I don’t think anyone should pay you anywhere close to 54k for ANYTHING.
Inappropriate comes to mind. Exactly what does that link have to do with the conversation at hand Hillari? Or are you not articulate enough to offer a reasonable explanation?
These wages are not going to make the voters happy come election day. Our kids can’t read, they can’t make change at Fareway or all the other minimim wage jobs that are open to them and we cant compete with the rest of the world. Shame on our school system. Shame!
I wouldn’t be so quick to beat up on the kids for not being able to read or make change. There are plenty of idiot adults in mason city that can’t do that. Schools benefit the kids that want to be there and those kids graduate and move away from MC fast! That being said, too many administrators and excessive pay for those administrators is a poor choice of how to spend our education dollars.
I regret that my post came across as an affront to our youth, that was not my intention at all. I’m saying that the system has failed kids, NOT the other way around.
If I worked in an environment that paid these wages, results would be demanded. Unlike the real world there is no accountability in education.
@Welcome – How has the system failed the students? They go to school, they have the material, they have teachers they can ask question of if they wish to. Learning has not changed. It takes time, personal effort, and a sincere desire. If there was really a teacher problem, then all students would be failing. The students who chose to learn will learn. The ones who chose not to learn will always have someone like to you to make excuses and blame someone else. We are all responsible for our own actions. Or is the AMA going to make not being able to learn another disease.
I am the first to admit teachers are approaching the upper end of the pay scale around this area and there isn’t as much accountability as I’d like to see. The local job market is way behind the times which makes it look even worse. I don’t believe pumping more money into education will help students that refuse to learn nor will it make parents that hold kids accountable. However, students that want to learn and held accountable do produce results…Some local kids are going to move on and do great things, just like they have in the past up to this point. Denying them the education they need would be wrong. Its too bad we can dump the non learners and crappy parents out of the system.
You cant call this a part time job as they do have a lot on their hands. Being a PART TIME school bus driver if the students in the class room act like they do on the bus those teachers have their hands full. By the way I dont make much but I have a lot of responsibility.
$54,000 isn’t enough if you have to wrangle potato to earn it.
Yes it is. You must not live in the real world that most people do.
Geez what do you want Hillari, a desk job and no one to have to deal with for it to be worth it?
54K is a lot of money…
Well said Jesus…I think she exepects everything for doing little to nothing. Typical.
someone is out of touch with the real world.
How about 54.000 for a part time job. Nice gig
