Sisters nabbed at Shopko for drugs

MASON CITY – Two sisters were allegedly up to no good at the Mason City Shopko store on Saturday and were taken to jail.

According to police, on Saturday at about 8:13 PM, Shopko employees notified the Mason City Police Department about a shoplifting incident. The alleged shoplifter, later identified as Korissa Hormann, 23, from Mason City, ran away from employees. Another female, Kayleigh Hormann, 21, from Rudd, had allegedly accompanied her sister while inside the store and did not run when confronted by store employees.

Police arrived as employees had learned the two women are sisters.

In the ensuing investigation, police discovered multiple baggies of marijuana packaged apparently for sale in Kayleigh Hormann’s purse and she was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver. Kayleigh Hormann was not charged with the theft.

Officers then made contact with Korissa Hormann who returned to Shopko. Korissa Hormann was charged with Theft in the 3rd Degree (Korissa Hormann’s theft charges were enhanced due to her having multiple previous convictions for theft as allowed by Iowa Code). Korissa Hormann allegedly had some prescription medication on her person at time of arrest that she was not prescribed and not in the proper labeled container. She was also charged with Unlawful Possession of Prescription Drugs.

Both females were than taken to jail.
