At 58, Kool-Aid Man gets a makeover

NORTHFIELD, Ill., April 15 (UPI) — U.S. food giant Kraft Foods Group Inc. said it was giving its iconic Kool-Aid Man a makeover.

The red, condensation-streaked pitcher of juice with the “Oh yeah!” tagline is getting a makeover to appeal more to modern mothers, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday.

The new mascot will have “a brand new modern look and distinctive voice” and will be more “life-like,” Kraft said.

The just-add-water beverage and its mascot have withstood the test of time. The drink has been around since the 1920s and the red pitch-man or pitcher-man has been around since 1954.

The new mascot will have more colors to coincide with the 22 flavors of Kool-Aid, an expanded vocabulary and a Facebook page, the company said.
