MASON CITY – The NIACC women’s basketball team hosts Southeastern Community College in an ICCAC contest Saturday.
Tip-off is set for 1 p.m.
NIACC (14-12 overall) is in fourth place in the ICCAC with a 7-5 mark. Southeastern (15-10 overall) is in fifth place in the league with a 6-5 mark.
The top four teams in the league host a first-round Region XI tournament game on March 5. After Saturday’s contest, NIACC has three league games remaining and Southeastern has four conference games left on its schedule.
“Our goal right now is to play the first-round game on our home floor,” NIACC coach Kelli Terrell said. “Our goal all year has been to finish in the top three.
“After suffering two home losses last week to the top 2 teams in our conference, getting the road win at Iowa Lakes on Wednesday was huge for our confidence.”
NIACC topped Iowa Lakes 70-62 on Wednesday. Freshman guard Kadejah Young (Minneapolis) led the Lady Trojans with 19 points.
Southeastern stopped Ellsworth 55-44 on Wednesday.
Southeastern stopped NIACC 58-55 in Keokuk on Jan. 16.
Freshman guard Chelsey Jacox (Plymouth, Minn.) averages 14.0 points to lead NIACC. Lateeka Thompson (Burnsville, Minn.) averages 13.4 points per game and Lashae Brooks averages 11.8 points per game.
Southeastern is led by sophomore post Ksenia Sharan, who averages 11.3 points per game.
