logo_iowa_hawkeyesIOWA CITY, Iowa — For the fourth straight season, the University of Iowa football program ranked 21st in the nation in attendance, averaging 70,747 per game in Kinnick Stadium in 2012. The Big Ten conference ranked second among all conferences with a 70,040 average. Iowa is one of seven Big Ten schools ranked in the top 25.

Michigan led all individual schools with an 112,252 per game average, which set a new record for individual FBS schools. Ohio State (105,330), Alabama (101,722) and Texas (100,884) were the other three schools to average over 100,000 fans per game. The SEC averaged 75,538 fans per game to lead all conferences.

The UI athletic ticket office is currently accepting season ticket renewals and new applications for the 2013 season. Fans that renew before the April 27 deadline have an opportunity to take advantage of the payment plan that allows the total ticket price to be spread over three installments. General public season tickets are $388 for Iowa’s seven home games. Season tickets for UI faculty and staff are $318 and UI students are $175. As of this week, the UI athletic ticket office has received 3,200 season ticket renewals and 840 requests for new or additional season tickets.

“We continue to be encouraged by the renewals and new season ticket applications we have received,” said UI Director of Athletic Ticket Operations Pam Finke.

The Hawkeyes are set to host Northern Illinois (Aug. 31), Missouri State (Sept. 7), Western Michigan (Sept. 21), Michigan (Oct. 5 – Homecoming), Northwestern (Oct. 26), Wisconsin (Nov. 2) and Michigan (Nov. 23) at Kinnick Stadium. Five of the seven opponents competed in bowl games following the 2012 season.
