CLEAR LAKE – Law enforcement had been attempting to locate Freddy Lee Jones, age23, and his girlfriend Shelly Marie Rohrer , age 36, since a federal indictment was unsealed on Feb. 1, in United States District Court in Cedar Rapids charging the pair with distributing methamphetamine.
Shorty after 5:30pm the pair was located by two members of the North Iowa Drug Task Force hiding out in the Best Western Holiday Lodge in Clear Lake.
Also arrested during the warrant execution was Allen Keith Hamilton, age 22, who was wanted locally for failure to appear on a driving while suspended charge in Cerro Gordo County.
Jones has been charged with 3 federal drug charges that include distribution of methamphetamine, conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
Rohrer has been charged with 2 federal drug charges that include conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver.
Both Jones and Rohrer were held overnight Monday br=fore being handed over to the US Marshal Service for transport to a Cedar Rapids holding facility.
If convicted on all charges, Jones and Rohrer face a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a possible maximum sentence of life imprisonment; an $8 million fine, $200 in special assessments and eight years up to life of supervised release after any imprisonment.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jack Lammers and was investigated by the North Central Iowa Narcotics Task Force, Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department, Mason City Police Department and Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
