After five delays, trial set for Ellsworth teacher Hodak

MASON CITY – A trial date has been set for a Mason City man charged with willful injury in connection with an incident that took place in 2011 at a Mason City bar.

Greg Allan Hodak, 47, was arrested on April 6th, 2012 and charged with willful injury (708.4(1)), a class C felony.

Hodak is accused of assaulting 52 year-old Mike Harrer on the evening of September 17th, 2011 at Spike’s Bar, 18 7th Street SE.

Police and witnesses have stated that Harrer’s injuries were significant.  Police have not commented on why the arrest of Hodak took place seven months after the alleged incident took place.

Hodak’s original trial date was set for August 7th, 2012.  The trial was then continued to September 11th, 2012 and then continued again to October 9th, 2012.  The trial was continued a third time to November 14th, 2012 and then a fourth time to January 15th, 2012.  On January 4th, 2013, a trial date was set for a fifth time for March 26th, 2013.

Hodak is listed as an instructor at Ellsworth Community College.
