Grain futures rise in Chicago

CHICAGO, Jan. 30 (UPI) — Grain futures closed higher Wednesday on the Chicago Board of Trade with the dollar index off 0.38 percent to 79.27 on the International Exchange.

Corn was up 6 1/4 to up 11 1/2, soybeans were up 24 1/4 to up 27 3/4, wheat was up 8 1/2 to up 10 and oats were up 1 1/4 to up 2 3/4.

Corn traded higher with support form the weaker dollar and bullish weather conditions in South America. With a lack of significant news, wheat prices rose in sympathy with corn and soybeans.

A rain-delayed harvest in Brazil expected to change to dry, hot weather, was considered bullish for soybeans.

Corn: Mar 7.40 1/4 up 10 3/4, May 7.41 up 11, Jly 7.32 up 11 1/2, Sep 6.16 3/4 up 6 1/4.

Soybeans: Mar 14.78 3/4 up 27, May 14.67 1/2 up 27 3/4, Jly 14.27 1/4 up 27 3/4, Aug 14.26 1/4 up 24 1/4.

Wheat: Mar 7.87 up 10, May 7.95 3/4 up 10, Jly 8.00 1/4 up 9, Sep 8.07 3/4 up 8 1/2.

Oats: Mar 3.62 up 2, May 3.69 1/4 up 2, Jly 3.75 off 1 1/4, Sep 3.73 1/4 up 1 1/4.
