Mason City man nabbed on theft warrant

MASON CITY – Around 5:30 PM Monday, the Mason City Police Department was chasing a wanted man in the vicinity of 5th and 6th Street and N. Delaware and N. Pennsylvania area of Mason City.
An officer had a suspect in sight and reported that he was at the Shalom Towers Two building.
Travis Jon Waslick, age 39, was arrested and taken to the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
He was picked up on a Cerro Gordo County warrant for failure to appear in court for a third degree theft charge from an incident in May of 2012. A warrant for his arrest had been issued on July 12.
Waslick was also charged with interference with official acts.
SUBJECT IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY

Yes, the city needs to put up barricades or fences dividing State Street to show people where not to go. “Enter North Side At Your Own Risk” signs need to go up to warn the uninformed and foolish.

Having lived in the “north end” most of my life and seeing the changes happening, I can assure you that the area where this happened, while not as unsavory as the area north of 12th St., is still not a very pleasant area to be.
