MCPD reports “rash of vandalism” and issues warning

MASON CITY – The Mason City Police Department is investigating a “rash of vandalism” today after a night of lawlessness in the city.

According to police, motor vehicles on city streets were the target overnight.  They said today that more than a dozen vehicles in the southeastern part of the city and neighborhoods surround East Park were damaged.  Vandals are most likely traveling by vehicle and using pellet guns to break windows on parked cars.

This incident seems to be in addition to the police issuing citations to a group of four young Mason City men for shooting paint balls at vehicles last night on the south side of the city.

Police warned that citizens should avoid parking vehicles on the street overnight and report any suspicious noises or activity in their neighborhood.

Police are asking that anyone with information about the persons responsible for these crimes should contact the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.

They got my dad’s block, him and the neighbors saw a White Chevy S-10 with a red stripe on it fleeing the block after they shot out the vehicle windows… Call the police if you see that vehicle description with punk ass kids driving, or shoot out all their windows and tires then call them in….

I hope the PD has this information. I’ll be on the lookout for it. I hope they catch the SOB’s that are doing this. They should set up some stocks in central park for all vandals to be put in while the citizens pass by and throw rotten tomatos at!

No way would they go from vandalizing parks to cars….I wanna know why his 5,000 bond was dropped and he was let out of jail on the felony charge last week. Isn’t court services supposed to be supervising him? The just let him keep committing more crime.

Did he really have that large of a bond for shooting a paintball gun?? lmao! Then the meth dealers, murderers & pedophiles are all posting bond & out all over town. Something is definitely wrong with this $hit hole town. :(

This case is from right before band fest. When he smashed the pop machine at the shelter house in east park, and causing over $2000.00 dollars in damage. This is not related to the paintballing charge.
