MASON CITY – Mason City police responded to a residence in the 300 block of 15th Street SE Wednesday morning at 12:37 AM on a report of a possible burglary in progress of a vacant house. A citizen reported seeing subjects inside the home with flashlights and notified police.
When officers arrived they stopped two people walking away from the residence and upon further investigation determined that the pair had in their possession items that had been taken from the home.
Two Mason City residents were arrested:
Raymond Dale Carpenter, 55, was charged with:
3rd degree burglary, a class D felony
Possession of burglary tools (aggravated misdemeanor)
Possession of methamphetamine (serious misdemeanor)
Possession of drug paraphernalia (simple misdemeanor)
Diane Lynn Hufstedler, 54, was charged with:
3rd degree burglary, a class D felony
Possession of burglary tools (aggravated misdemeanor)
Carpenter and Hufstedler were booked into the county jail and held for bond.
SUBJECTS ARE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY

If anything like this happened on the “North End”, we’d have all media talking about how the North End is deteriorating, cops doing all nighter stakeouts, and activist groups drumming up ideas on how to improve the area…. wait, we already have all that on the North End from the last isolated incident, let’s start working on a “Reduce Crime on the “South End”” development.

Ahhhh at 1:16 am using the meth like the above individuals in jail!?!? Don’t have to see the kids just have to pull up Iowa Courts to see their records. Don’t get me wrong maybe not all of their kids are bad but come on when both of these wonderful non law abiding individuals have sons that either have or should have went to prison what does that tell ya!?!?

You really should not attempt to talk down on people when you cannot even speak properly. Coming from the daughter of one of these individuals, I would appreciate it if you left us out of your high horse, judgmental comments. Maybe the sons of either of these two that have been, or in your opinion, should have been to prison already, does not mean that they are not now a contributing member to society. People change, believe it or not, and for you to sit there and pretend that you know the children of these two well enough to pass judgement, when this has absolutely nothing to do with any of us, is just asinine. It’s bad enough that you think you are able to decide who should be allowed to “breed” and who should not, then to add their children into the mix? You should be proud of yourself.
