Mason City woman turns herself in on child abuse warrant

MASON CITY – Gina Marie Bilyeu, age 20, turned herself in on arrest warrant at the Cerro Gordo County Law Enforcement Complex shortly after 8:30 am on Wednesday.

The warrant was issued after she failed to appear at a scheduled arraignment on Monday, June 4th, an aggravated misdemeanor count of child endangerment related to an incident that occurred on May 7th. Read more about that incident here.

Magistrate Patrick B. Byrne entered an order for Bilyeu to be held for a $2,000 bond pending further court proceedings. Later in the day District Court Judge Colleen D. Weiland dropped bond requirements and ordered Bilyeu released to court services pending further court proceedings.

Bilyeu had been out of jail since March 30th on her own recognizance after being arrested by Mason City police department for a serious misdemeanor charge of assault causing bodily injury that allegedly occurred March 29th. She had been scheduled for trial in that case last Friday until Judge Weiland ordered it continued until July 31st.

Court records show Gina Bilyeu has been found guilty of possession of drug paraphernalia 3 times, trespassing 2 times, 3rd degree theft 2 times, and 5th degree theft all within the last 3 years.
