Branstad, Reynolds to take weekly news conferences on the road beginning next week

(DES MOINES) – Gov. Terry E. Branstad and Lt. Gov. Kim Reynolds today announced they will be taking some of their weekly news conferences on the road, beginning next Wednesday in Storm Lake.

The administration made it a point to reinstate their weekly news conferences upon taking office, as a part of their transparency goals. Taking the news conferences on the road will enhance this effort, they say.

“We are pleased to host a weekly news conference, and I enjoy the opportunity to livestream these on the web for Iowans to watch each week,” said Gov. Branstad. “We believe our efforts should extend beyond the Capitol, and I look forward to answering questions from reporters all across this state.”

Reynolds says it will give constituents a closer connection with the administration.

“We tour every county, every year,” said Reynolds. “This is an additional way to keep in contact with Iowans, and answer their questions and concerns. We are excited to address questions of local prominence all across this state.”

Details of the news conference are as follows:

2:30 p.m. Gov. Branstad and Lt. Gov. Reynolds hold administration’s weekly press conference

Future dates and cities for weekly news conferences will be announced as they are scheduled.
