Hit and run accident on I-35 leaves Osage man injured Friday

WORTH COUNTY – At about 11:30 PM Friday evening, an Osage man was injured in a hit and run accident on I-35.

At the 205 mile marker in the northbound lane, a Des Moines woman, Naw Hsee, 25, lost control of her vehicle, according to an Iowa State Patrol crash report.  Hsee’s vehicle entered the median and then the southbound lanes of the interstate, striking a vehicle driven by Elaine Mahaffey, 77, of Osage.  An 86 year-old passenger in her vehicle, M Russel Mahaffey, was injured and taken to an Osage hospital by a Forest City ambulance.

Hsee left the scene and was apprehended later.

A call to the Iowa State Patrol could not immediately verify what, if anything, Hsee was charged with.

According to online records, Hsee has been charged with a litany of traffic offenses in recent years:

– Failure to have valid license in 2009 (found guilty)

– Lights of improper color on vehicle in 2009 (found guilty)

– Driving with suspended license  in 2010 (found guilty)

– Driving with suspended license  in 2011 (plead guilty)

– Failure to have valid license while operating vehicle in 2009 (found guilty)

– Failure to to show proof of insurance in 2009 (found guilty)

– Improper rear lamp in 2009 (found guilty)

– Failure to secure child in 2010 (found guilty)

– Failure to to show proof of insurance in 2010 (found guilty)

– Improper use of lanes in 2010 (found guilty)

– Defective muffler system in 2011 (plead guilty)
