Judge sending Beje Clark escapee back after dismissing charge

On Tuesday, January 24th, District 2A Associate Judge Gregg Rosenbladt dismissed a serious misdemeanor voluntary absence (escape) charge filed against 28-year-old William Thomas Hester.

The charged had been filed after Hester left the residential facility, Beje Clark, from December 30th and did not return until Mason City Police captured Hester six days later with another Beje Clark escapee, 41-year-old Bobby John Bennet, at 1000 S. Illinois, Apartment 301.

Judge Rosenblant, a former Cerro Gordo County assistant district attorney, appointed to the bench as a judge in 2008 assessed a $100 criminal filing and docket fee and a $21 fee for Mason City Police service against Hester in the case.

Hester must serve 30 days, 20 which have been served, for a second probation violation before he is returned to Beje Clark to complete a 180 day sentence he received in an assault causing bodily injury conviction.

According to court records 41-year-old Bobby John Bennet, the escapee caught with Hester, was sentenced to seven days in jail for his charge serious misdemeanor voluntary absence (escape) by District Court Judge Rustin Davenport on January 20th.

Bennet has been transported back to Story County to face a probation revocation hearing in an assault with intent to inflict serious bodily injury and a domestic assault case that had been plea bargained down from a 2nd degree robbery charge.
