MASON CITY – A Mason City man was arrested in East Park Tuesday morning after calling authorities about “what he believed to be a body in the East Park river by the small dam,” witnesses tell NorthIowaToday.com
Jamie Roggeman, 39, was arrested for Public Intoxication Third Offense and Interference with Official Acts. He is being held at the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
Police Officers, Firemen and an ambulance were dispatched and rushed to East Park.
“When they (the authorities) got there they found out that what the guy thought was a body, was just litter of cans and a basketball spashing around the dam area,” the witness said.
The Fireman still took the time to walk up and down the river, checking to make sure that there wasn’t a person in the water.
Once they were satisfied that it was a false alarm they started to leave. The police officers then took the man in to custody. Witnesses said “Once the man realized this he started cussing and fighting the officers. They held him up against a tree to restrain him. He was yelling that he didn’t do anything wrong and to quit holding him and stiffened up his body. Another officer came to assist and they got him in the car.”
